"The Red Death had long devastated the country of England in the year 1869. No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous. Blood was its Avatar and its seal - the redness and the horror of blood. There were sharp pains, and sudden dizziness, and then profuse bleeding at the pores, with dissolution. The scarlet stains upon the body and especially upon the face of the victim, were the pest ban which shut him out from the aid and from the sympathy of his fellow-men. And the whole seizure, progress and termination of the disease, were the incidents of half an hour." --Edgar Allan Poe
The places is England and the time is 1869. The Red Death has hit England very badly and has caused the King to take action. He has called upon his advisers and such to be safe within the castle walls. These include people of high status such as Lords, Ladies, Earls and Dames. The King has also called upon servant boys, maids, doctors, nurses, entertainers, actors, musicians and chefs. All of these people have been put in to this castle safe from the Red Death.
They maybe safe from the Red Death, but they are not safe from each other. In the castle, many things are happening. The enclosed space is making the tenants become insane. The insanity has hit almost everyone but it isn't a normal insanity. It is a passionate, lustful insanity that can cause murder, betrayal and maybe even treason. No one realises these things happening to themselves, but why would they, they are all the insane ones. No one normal to tell them different.
What's better; insanity or death?
